Detailed information about the reaction Zn + H2SO3 -> ZnSO3 + H2
-
Reaction conditions
- Conditions for the above reaction to occur require an acidic environment and appropriate temperature. In addition, the reaction also needs to be supplied with initial energy to start the process.
-
Reaction process
- During the reaction process, zinc will react with sulfurous acid, performing ion exchange to create zinc sulfate and hydrogen.
-
Observed phenomena
- When the reaction occurs, there will be a phenomenon of hydrogen gas bubbles escaping. If collected and burned, this hydrogen gas will produce a faint blue flame. The precipitated product, zinc sulfate, typically has a white color.
