This is a chemical reaction between Potassium Hydroxide (KOH) and Aluminum Hydroxide (Al(OH)3) to produce Potassium tetrahydroxoaluminate (KAl(OH)4).
- Reaction conditions
This reaction occurs in a humid environment and at room temperature.
- Reaction process
K + OH- + Al + 3OH- + K + Al -> + 4OH-
KOH and Al(OH)3 interact with each other, and after a series of ion exchange reactions, KAl(OH)4 is formed.
- Phenomenon occurred
Throughout the reaction process, the white powder substance of Al(OH)3 gradually disappears, replaced by the appearance of the transparent light green liquid of KAl(OH)4.
